Crocodile Smile

This summer I started with my obsession with re-finishing furniture and there are certain pieces that catch my attention as soon as I see them and I know that I have to have that piece and I can visualize just what I want as soon as I see the piece.  I was buying furniture off a father/son team on facebook that buy used furniture and then sell it on facebook....it is genius and they are making a ton of money doing it!  Great idea being the middle man and making money that way :)

Back to my table....

The father/son duo know what my style is and every time they get a piece they think I will like, they give me first dibs on that piece.  I went to look at a little side table and walked away with this baby right here...

I knew this table would be perfect to use as a TV table for my boy's room.  I was trying to figure out exactly how I wanted to refinish this table, I knew I wanted to paint it green.  The exact name of the color is, Crocodile Smile....how cute is that!!  I started off by sanding the table down, the stain that was on the table was old and kinda nasty but it actually turned out to be a good thing at the end.  Next I painted the table in Crocodile Smile and let the paint dry.  As soon as it dried, I started sanding away.  This is my favorite part.

I couldn't stop sanding once I started, it was so much fun and the table kept getting better and better with each stroke of the sand paper.

The color also became better and better with each stroke.  I was falling for this table and I was falling hard....I couldn't stop smiling!

I decided to use the original hardware, it made the table look that much better.

Yumminess!!

The top of the table looks so good and I love the way the stain under the paint comes out even after I sanded the table endlessly.  It looks perfect just the way it turned out and I love it.  The boys were really excited when they saw the table that I refinished for them and they couldn't wait to put it in their new room in Apt 201.  The lighting in here is horrible right now because it has been so gray and blah out the last few days so I can't get a good enough picture of the table in use but I will continue to try so I can show you guys how good it looks in the boy's room.

What do you think of the color?  Would you have done this differently, if so, how?

New in town

Hello everyone!  I have been blogging for a few years now...about five to be exact, but always wrote a family blog with my craft stuff thrown in here and there.  I just moved into a new apartment and new state and am ready for a new beginning with a new blog about all the things I love.  I have a love for beautiful things that are handmade, such as crafts, hand knitted or crocheted, or furniture that has been shown a new life.  These are all things that I do and want to share with you...okay, the crocheting, I don't really do much of but I want to give it a try because my sister just showed me something awesome and amazing that I want to be able to make myself.  You can see the awesomeness on her blog by clicking here (you won't be disappointed).

I am going to try to post as often as possible, but I am a full time student as well as a single mother to three handsome boys.  All of that takes up a lot of time, but I love blogging and I love reading other blogs.....take that as a hint and leave me a link to your blog so I can see the awesomeness that is going on in your part of the world!

Okay, enough of the rambling on and on....wanna see some pictures?  I thought I would start off by showing you guys my first furniture re-do project that I took on.  It was so much fun and it totally got me hooked!!

This is what the little table looked like before I started.

It was beat up but I saw past all of that and couldn't wait to get started!!

This was the only picture I took of the actual sanding and painting but you get the point lol

The finished product!!

I realized about a month after finishing this piece that I put the knob thingy on the bottom drawer on upside down....it has not yet been fixed (blushing but had to tell you the truth because that's just how I roll lol).

It looks as if there is gold on here but it is just the wood underneath the paint....I love it!!

How did I not notice that the hardware was upside down???

Can you tell why this piece got me hooked on re-doing little tables??

I took this picture and played around with it on instagram a little bit.

I have done a lot of pieces since my first one and I will show you guys in later posts all of the things I have done, but for now, I hope you enjoyed getting your first look into my little world in Apt 201.

EDIT.....so the thought of not having fixed the hardware and that being out there on the world wide web was killing me...so I fixed it and took a pic to prove it lol  The color came out a little weird but you get the idea :)

I also added some adorable jars that my sister crocheted around for me so you could all see how awesome my sister is!!  The colors don't match....these belong in my bedroom but again, you get the idea :)
